Xoloitzquintle

Real Life
Standards:
Size:
45 - 55 cm (standard size)
History:
The Xoloitzquintle is also called the Mexican Hairless and originated in Mexico.  This is a primitve breed, relatively uncanged for a long time.  They were once raised as food.  The breed was named after the god 'Xolotl," whose job was to occompany the souls of the dead to their final resting place.
Description:
The Xolo is a friendly and loyal companion, but is wary of strangers and makes a good watchdog.  Unlike the CHinese Crested, any hair found on the Xolo is short and bristly and they never have "plumes" of fur.  Fully furred pups do occur sometimes but are not permitted in shows.
